Wives of Faith Christmas Blog Carnival: Day 3 - Favorite Christmas Story

My favorite Christmas story is the story of the Herdman's.

Have you heard of them?

"The Herdmans are the worst kids in the history of the world. They lie, steal, smoke cigars, swear, and hit little kids. So no one is prepared when this outlaw family invades church one Sunday and decides to take over the annual Christmas pageant. None of the Herdmans have ever heard the Christmas story before. Their interpretation of the tale -- the Wise Men are a bunch of dirty spies and Herod needs a good beating -- has a lot of people up in arms. But it will make this year's pageant the most unusual anyone has seen and, just possibly, the best one ever."

Althought the story is fictional, I see the Herdman's in my classroom every year when we read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.  The story touches the hearts of my students and changes them, if only a little.

If you have never read the book, I don't want to spoil it for you. You must get your hands on a copy.  This book reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas and shows us how Jesus can change our hearts.

I am joining some wondeful folks over at Wives of Faith for their annual Christmas Blog Carnival.  Head on over to find out about some other Christmas favorites. If you are a military spouse, feel free to join in for your chance to win some cool prizes.

  1. That is a great, great, great story! I had forgotten about it and will be running to my library and hoping they have it to share it with my kids. I think it is wonderful that you get to share this with your students. Thanks for the reminder. Have a happy day!
