52 Books in 52 Weeks - 2015 Edition

This year, I took part in the 52 Books in 52 Weeks Reading Challenge with my online friend Pattie.  I'll admit that I did NOT complete the challenge, but I did read some really awesome books.

These categories were successfully checked off my list:

a book that became a movie

a book published this year

a book with nonhuman characters

a book by a female author

a book from an author you love that you haven't read yet

a book based on a true story

a book that scares you

a book you can finish in one day

a book that made you cry

a graphic novel

a book you own but have never read

a book set during Christmas

a book written by an author with your same initials

a book you started but never finished

I currently have some books we can label "in progress." I'm currently reading All I Need is Jesus and a Good Pair of Jeans, War and Peace, To Kill a Mockingbird, and the first book of the Percy Jackson series.  One or two of those may make the list before the end of the year.

I am looking forward to the 2016 Reading Challenge.  I know I am going to be reading Even if Not by my friend, Kaitlyn Bouchillon.  Be looking for its release in 2016.

How did your reading go this year?  What do you have on your list for the new year?

  1. Natasha, This is a great list! I will have my 9 year old check out the few in the list he hasn't read yet. I need to read more along with him! Do you read the books your boys read or just for your students? I wasn't sure. Love to you in the new year! I'm back to work today (just one day) then off to a winter wedding! I hope you enjoy your winter break. Love, FMF friend jenn

    1. Jenn, I cheat a little....I guess...but my group doesn't judge! The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (picture book) was read to my students at school with our short story unit. The other kid books were encouraged by my 9 year old. He loves to read, so we share a lot of what we read with each other. He actually talked me into starting the Percy Jackson series which is a HUGE stretch for me. I am more of a romance, realistic fiction, inspirational type reader. This is a shorter list that might be good for your son. http://modernmrsdarcy.com/2016-reading-challenge/ You can always pick and choose or create your own list. I think my group has combined a couple of different lists this year. Miss you!

  2. What a fun challenge! And I'm secretly glad that you didn't manage to read 52 books in 52 weeks, because WOAH! That would've been crazy! Love the mix of styles that you have in your list. So glad you linked up! Happy New Year to you!

  3. The Invention of Hugo Cabret is one of my daughters all time favorites! It's a pretty cool book! (Your neighbor at Kate's place)

  4. I love your categories! I'm still working on Theodore Rex (about Theodore Roosevelt) and The Bipolar Survival Guide. I'm looking forward to Melanie Dickerson's two new books (one a Regency mystery and the other a Medival fair tale retelling).
