Book Review: God Gave Us Christmas

God Gave Us Christmas is yet another book by Lisa Tawn Bergren in the God Gave Us Series. I was so excited to read this book, and I was not disappointed in it!

Little Cub is so excited about Christmas and Santa.  However, Mama explains that Christmas isn't about Santa. It is about Jesus.  Mama takes Little Cub on an adventure to show her God.  They find God everywhere.

I love that in the story, Bergren stresses the importance of the celebration of Christmas, the birth of Christ and adds that Santa just reminds us of giving.  Mama points out in the story that Jesus was sent for all people.

For parents who want to help their children understand the true meaning of Christmas, this is the book!

I received a free copy of this book from WaterBrook Press for the purpose of an honest review.

  1. God Gave Us Christmas is a short story written by Lisa Bergren, an author of over forty books, including many children’s books. This book is about a family of a cub preparing to celebrate the most special day of the year. The bear then wonders, “Who invented Christmas?” Mama bear’s answer leads to more questions like “Is God more important than Santa?” So Mama bear and the Little Cub head off on a polar expedition to find God, as Mama bear says. During their adventure, they find signs that God is working all around them, all the time. Through Mama’s guidance, Little Cub discovers that Jesus is the best present of all.
I found this book at home, which I read when I was very young. Even though this is a very easy book to read, I really found this book interesting to read. This book is from a Christian point of view, where the bear family believes in the existence of God. During their journey, they realize that God is all around us. If God weren’t here, the whole world would have not existed. Almost everything around us exists now thanks to God. For example, the scenery from a mountain was a gift from God. God created the world, and created nature. Through nature, you can observe many magnificent sceneries. Although I am Christian, I was not strictly Christian who thinks about God weekly. After reading this book once more, I came to a realization that if it weren’t for God, I would have not existed. If God didn’t exist, the whole world wouldn’t exist. So now, I really appreciate the gift that God has given us, and will never forget it.
